Everton fans took to Twitter last night to scold Sky Sports News reporter Jim White over flattering comments to Sam Allardyce and the Blues’ season.
Everton boss Sam Allardyce appeared on Sky Sports News on Monday evening to reflect on the season with host Jim White who, on the day, was full of praise for the former England manager and his side.
However, Jim’s friendly intentions were jumped on by Everton fans, after the Scot made what most would a call a pretty throw-away comment.
“You came into Everton and Everton needed stability, and my God you’ve given them that, and a tremendous eighth-place finish,” White said to Allardyce.
Well, given the recent negativity and apathy surrounding the club regarding the lack of progressive football, White’s flattery was never going to go unchallenged by Toffees supporters and people were directing criticism his way within minutes.
It quickly became clear throughout the show that White was not going to challenge Allardyce on current issues with the club, and for fans it was too frustrating to sit back and watch after months of irritation.
It is still unclear at this stage whether Allardyce will be in charge of Everton come next season, but a report from ESPN claims he is due to leave his role later this week and a number of potential replacements are already being touted.
