Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez has revealed how much he “enjoyed” his debut season in England’s top flight, praising his colleagues for helping him to settle quickly.
Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez is relishing his time in the Premier League with Tottenham, having played 40 games in all competitions after taking “big step” to join from Ajax for £42million last summer.
The 21-year-old, who recently signed a six-year contract at White Hart Lane, has managed to impress fans and pundits quickly this season, displaying his exceptional physical attributes and maturity for a defender in the preliminary stages of their development.
Sanchez is more aware than anyone of the massive progress he’s made since the start of the season, and is aiming for further success at the club.
He told the club’s official website: “I’ve enjoyed it so much this season because I have quality team-mates, I have quality staff guiding me and I have a quality training ground to work at.
“I’ve learned so much from everyone, not just from the other centre-backs like Jan (Vertonghen), like Toby (Alderweireld), Juan (Foyth), and also Victor (Wanyama) and Eric Dier when they play in this position but I pick up things from every player and of course from the gaffer.
“He was a defender, he’s shown me a lot of videos on how to improve and I can say okay, the gaffer is close to me because every time he tries to show me the best way to play, I try to do what he is thinking. For me, Tottenham was a big step but now I enjoy everything.
“You learn a lot in England, you improve a lot, but I love it here.”
The Colombian international has unquestionably hit the ground running under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, like many before him, and looks a serious addition to the defensive ranks at White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future.
And now with reports linking star defender Toby Alderweireld with a move away from North London (The Mirror) it could potentially be the time for Sanchez to elevate his game further and become the main man in the defence for Spurs. At his age, the sky is limit.
