Italian giants Juventus are back in for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after attempting to swap him for Arthur Melo.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is wanted by Juventus ahead of the January transfer window.
That is according to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that Hojbjerg is back on the Juventus wish list.
Juve are desperate to add another midfielder in January amid questions over Paul Pogba, who is ‘missing until further notice’.
Juve don’t seem all that impressed with the likes of Weston McKennie and Manuel Locatelli, so a new signing is wanted.
Juventus want Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
It’s now suggested that one of the top names on the Juve wish list for January is Tottenham ace Hojbjerg.
The report claims that Juventus not only spoke about moving for Hojbjerg in the summer, but even wanted to try a swap deal.
Juve allegedly wanted to exchange Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo for Hojbjerg in a deal which seemingly didn’t get off the ground.
Arthur spent last season on loan at Liverpool but was barely seen in a Reds shirt as he failed to make an impact at Anfield.
The former Barcelona man has since moved on to Fiorentina and it’s hard to suggest that Spurs really missed out here, with this a pretty cheeky swap proposal given Arthur’s lack of Premier League impact last season.
Few would blame Hojbjerg for wanting to leave Tottenham
The time may well be coming for Hojbjerg to move on.
Hojbjerg was heavily linked with a summer move away from Tottenham but no deal materialised before the transfer deadline.
The Dane hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season with Ange Postecoglou looking to go in a different direction.
Hojbjerg has been coming off the bench but that may not be enough for the 28-year-old.
A move to a European giant like Juventus could appeal with Hojbjerg no doubt desperate for regular playing time – even if that means leaving Spurs.
