Juventus want Emerson Royal and are gearing up to launch a move for the Tottenham Hotspur man’s signature at the end of the season.

Juve find themselves in a bit of a mess.

For all of Andrea Agnelli’s talk about the European Super League and teams like Atalanta not being deserving of Champions League football, Juventus don’t look much like an elite club right now.

Out of the Champions League with five defeats in six group stage games and 13 points adrift of Serie A leaders Napoli, Juventus are having a nightmare season.

Juventus want Emerson Royal

For all the rumours about Juventus maybe wanting Antonio Conte back, they seemingly fancy another Tottenham Hotspur man.

SportItalia’s Rudy Galetti reports that Juventus would like to take Real Madrid right back Alvaro Odriozola on loan in January.

The idea would be to bring in the Spanish right back until the end of the season, at which point Juventus can go for their top target.

That player is Emerson Royal with Juventus seemingly hoping to lure the Brazilian to Turin at the end of the season.

Odriozola would just be a stop-gap and with a lack of minutes at Real Madrid, a January deal seems plausible.

Then the chase will turn to Emerson, who is a confusing case at Tottenham.

The Brazilian arrived from Barcelona last year as Nuno Espirito Santo prioritised a back four in defence.

Yet Antonio Conte quickly came in and wants to play with wing backs, as he has for many years.

Emerson doesn’t really suit the right wing back role as whilst he is physically and athletically impressive, he doesn’t have any kind of guile in the final third.

It’s a shame because Emerson puts in so much work and Conte clearly knows he can get a shift out of the 23-year-old but he has yet to show that he can grow into the right wing back role.

If Tottenham can get their money back on Emerson at the end of the season then they would surely take it and invest in a right wing back Conte wants – or give Djed Spence a chance.
