Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign Shakhtar Donetsk superstar Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Arsenal also keen on the Ukrainian international ahead of the January transfer window.
According to Calciomercato, the Serie A giants will rival the Gunners for Mudryk just one year after Juventus beat Arsenal to the signing of Dusan Vlahovic, who rejected a move to north London to join the Turin side from ACF Fiorentina in a dramatic transfer saga.
Arsenal are one of many clubs chasing Mudryk, with wide-attack a position Mikel Arteta is seemingly keen on adding to in the January market, with the Shakhtar winger establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting talents via his performances in the UEFA Champions League.
As reported by I News, Mudryk has a price tag of £50m, and many clubs could be tempted to take a punt on the attacker based on his form this season, and Juventus could be an ideal destination for the winger if the Italian side can even afford to sign the forward.
Juventus’ financial problems have been well publicised this season, with Massimiliano Allegri only keeping his job as manager of the Bianconeri due to their inability to buy out his and his staff’s contracts, which means a move for Mudryk in January could cripple the club.
Indeed, Arsenal would consider themselves favourites to sign Mudryk given their sensational form in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League this season, and although Juventus could offer the winger silverware, the Gunners’ exciting project might be a more appealing destination for the attacker.

Arsenal’s depth in the attack could be the difference between a comfortable top-four finish or Arteta’s side once again falling apart when the going gets tough, and as a result, signing Mudryk ahead of Juventus will be key to the north London side returning to Europe’s elite.
After all, a top-four finish remains Arsenal’s main priority despite talk of a potential Premier League title push, and whilst expectations are increasing amongst fans, signing Mudryk in January must be viewed as crucial, especially with Juventus now in the race.
