Juventus are reportedly ready to fight off interest in wonderkid midfielder Nicolo Rovella in light of Manchester City scouting the youngster, with the Premier League giants seemingly keen on signing the Italian.

According to Tuttosport, the Turin giants are scrambling to ward off any and all interest in Rovella, who is spending this season out on loan at AC Monza where the midfielder is making quite the impression with the newly-promoted Serie A side.

The Bianconeri signed Rovella from Genoa back in 2021, yet despite the youngster already featuring for Juventus last season, the decision was made to loan out the midfielder for the 2022/23 campaign, with the choice proving to be a correct one despite interest from City.

Whilst the Manchester giants will find it hard to pry Rovella away from Juventus, City’s interest in the youngster is a good indicator that the 20-year-old is progressing well with Monza, with the Italian youth international already making 14 appearances in all competitions.

With 56 Serie A appearances in his entire career, Rovella is quite the experienced head despite his tender age. And for Juventus, it’s no wonder why the Old Lady are eager to keep hold of the youngster with fellow youngsters Fabio Miretti and Nicolo Fagioli establishing themselves as regulars under Massimiliano Allegri.

Indeed, Rovella has the potential to complete the midfield trifecta for Juventus next season. Yet with City interested in the youngster, the Serie A side face quite the battle in the coming months to keep the wonderkid in Piedmont given how big an allure playing for the Premier League champions will be.

City have made it a mission in recent years to sign quality talents from across Europe to add to their youth ranks. And whilst Rovella is way too good for to be playing for the U-21s, the midfielder has a good shot of one day having the ability to feature regularly for Pep Guardiola’s senior team

A silky passer and elegant dribbler, Rovella has all the qualities needed for the Catalan coach to mould the youngster into his perfect image. And with Ilkay Gundogan inching towards the exit, the Italian could be an alternative to replacing the German in 2023.
