Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes has reacted on Instagram after returning to action for the first time in 15 months on Friday.
A number of current players, including Juventus defender Danilo and Manchester City striker, Gabriel Jesus reacted to his social media post.
It was New Year’s Day of 2020 that Wesley last kicked a ball during a game, so it must have been some feeling to do it once more during the friendly encounter against West Brom.
Following Wesley’s Instagram post, Man City star, Jesus wrote: ‘Good return warrior’.
Whilst his Aston Villa teammate, Ahmed Elmohamady added: ‘Well done big man’. And ex-Premier League defender Danilo simply wrote ‘force on it, brother’.
The key thing for Wesley is that he is still in a recovery process and Villa fans won’t see him at his best until next season.
It’s a crying shame that the 24-year-old’s career has been stalled in such a manner and during a crucial period.
Whilst the target man was questioned for his six goals in a Villa shirt during his debut six months for the club, it did come during a difficult period and when everyone was struggling.
But during this campaign things are a lot different and it will be interesting to see how he fares in a Villa side that has improved vastly since he was last on a Premier League pitch.
