Juventus are reportedly looking at selling Brazilian wonderkid Kaio Jorge just one year after the Italian giants beat the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to the youngster’s signature.

According to CalcioMercato, the Serie A side are looking at the possibility of selling Jorge in January, with the 20-year-old attacker hardly making an impact in Turin since arriving from Santos in the summer of 2021, with the forward making just 11 substitute appearances, all of which came last season.

A long-term injury picked up in February has been the main culprit behind Jorge’s lack of playing time and development. However, instead of sticking with the Brazilian, Juventus are looking at options in January over what to do with the South American, with a permanent sale potentially on the cards.

The news will come as a shock to the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, who according to agent Andrea Bagnoli were both well in the race to sign Jorge before his move to Juventus last year, with the youngster, at the time, considered one of Brazil’s most exciting talents.

However, as we now know, the move has been nothing short of a disaster for Jorge, with CalcioMercato stating that. a return to Brazil is the most likely outcome for the attacker in the January window. With Juventus keen to recoup as much as possible on their initial investment.

Indeed, Jorge’s time in Europe has been underwhelming. And whilst it’s hard to say whether or not if this outcome would have happened had the attacker moved to England, the youngster’s time with Juventus could act as a lesson to South American talents that the Premier League is a better destination than some of Europe’s elite.

The hype surrounding Jorge before his move to Juventus is quite easy to forget, with the forward likened to Neymar based on his Santos eduction and his style of play. Yet football is an unpredictable game, and for Liverpool and Tottenham, they will be kicking themselves for not winning the race to sign the prospect last year.

After all, there’s a good chance that Jorge would have developed at a better pace had the Brazilian moved to England rather than Italy. And with the 20-year-old now set to return to his homeland, we will now likely never know just how good the prospect could have become had he signed for the right club.
