Juventus are reportedly ‘terrified’ that Arsenal will soon move to sign Adrien Rabiot, who is expected to be on the move in the January transfer window.

According to CalcioMercato, the Serie A giants are keen to keep hold of the midfielder until the end of the season, however, interest in Rabiot has spiked massively after the France international’s impressive performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 27-year-old was a staple for Didier Deschamps’ side as France once again made it to the World Cup final. However, Les Bleus were beaten on penalties by Argentina as Rabiot picked up a runners-up medal in Qatar.

Despite the heartbreak of the World Cup, the competition has done a world of good for Rabiot, who is now one of Europe’s most sought after players with the Juventus star’s contract set to expire in six months, with Arsenal keen on signing the midfielder.

Indeed, the Time have previously reported that Juventus would accept an offer of £14m to let Rabiot leave in January, and with interest already high in the former PSG star, Arsenal will have their work cut out to sign the France international next month.

As per CalcioMercato, though, Juventus could be spared by the Gunners if the north London side decides to move for a younger midfielder, something that is entirely possible given Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar’s transfer philosophy that, in the last 18 months, has been crucial to transforming the north London side.

Arsenal should only sign Rabiot as a last-resort option

Rabiot has enjoyed arguably his best season ever for both club and country, and whilst the midfielder’s form now would make him a great signing for Arsenal, the 27-year-old should still only be viewed as a last resort of sorts for the north London club.

After all, Arsenal have been linked with younger midfielders in recent weeks that would suit the squad better in the long-term, and with interest already high in Rabiot, the Juventus star might not be worth the fight for Arteta, who might prefer a younger type of player than the France international.
