Juventus reportedly met with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agent this week amid growing transfer interest in the Lazio superstar, with Arsenal also believed to be keen on signing the Serbian.

According to CalcioMercato, the player’s representative, Mateja Kezman, was in Turin to conduct business with Milinkovic-Savic’s brother, who is on Torino’s books. However, the trip also saw the agent meet with Juventus over a potential deal concerning the Lazio dynamo.

As per the report, though, no transfer will be possible in January with Juventus’ financial situation meaning that they will likely have to offload players in both the winter and summer transfer windows before making a move to sign Milinkovic-Savic, who Lazio’s president recently claimed is worth €120m (£107m).

The Serie A giants are not the only side chasing the 27-year-old, with Il Messaggero reporting during the summer that the Gunners actually made a bid for the Serbian superstar, with other top sides in Europe also chasing Milinkovic-Savic, who this season has been nothing short of incredible.

The midfielder has bagged five goals and seven assists in all competitions for Maurizio Sarri’s side, who are looking in a good position to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League via a top-four finish in Serie A. Yet Milinkovic-Savic could well be gone should the Roman side achieve just this.

Indeed, the Serbian has long been one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders. And Juventus meeting with Milinkovic-Savic over a potential deal next summer is a huge blow for Arsenal’s chances in attempting to sign the Serie A superstar.

Juventus’ power grip on Serie A might have waned in the past few years, yet there’s no denying that the majority of top players in the division would jump at the chance to sign for the Turin-based giants, and whilst Milinkovic-Savic has his admirers from England, the Old Lady could be too good to pass up.

After all, the Italian side will provide Milinkovic-Savic a platform to play regular Champions League football as well as elevate their chances to return to the top of the footballing pyramid in the country, with Juventus needing a new approach to return to their former best.
