Juventus could beat Manchester United to defensive target Mats Hummels by offering Borussia Dortmund a player exchange.
Manchester United are said to be closing in on German centre-back Mats Hummels, but Juventus could spring a surprise transfer coup.
The Borussia Dortmund star is said to be Man United’s first choice to replace the departing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic and help rebuild their back line.
At the age of 25, Hummels has already made nearly 150 appearances for Dortmund and played for his country 28 times.
Manchester United are believed to have been following Hummels for some time and could make a move before the World Cup to prevent the possibility of his value increasing.
But Tuttosport claims that Juventus could make an opportunist swoop as Dortmund are already in discussions with them regarding striking star Ciro Immobile.
Immobile has topped the Serie A scoring chart with 22 goals for Torino but he is co-owned by Juventus, who seem open to selling him this summer.
Dortmund have made an approach and the two clubs are said to be getting close to agreeing a transfer, even though Torino seem reticent to let him leave and will need to agree the deal.
It is being suggested that Juventus could try and include Hummels in the Immobile deal and that Giovinco’s future may also enter into negotiations.
Juventus could therefore leapfrog United in the battle for the defensive ace as the German side are reportedly desperate to add Immobile to their ranks.
