Juventus have just handed Beale’s Rangers a big January transfer boost

Of all the clubs capable of handing Rangers’ January transfer plans a timely leg-up, Mick Beale probably didn’t expect to see Juventus offer a helping hand. But the Serie A giants may be about to do just that. 

According to Italian reporter Gianluca di Marzio, Juventus have agreed to send Hans Nicolussi Caviglia to Salernitana on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign.

22-year-old Caviglia had impressed during the first half of the season during a spell in the second tier with Sudtirol. With that deal set to be cut short, he will now be handed the chance to prove that he can cut it amongst the Inter Milans, Napolis and Romas of the world, Salernitana striking a deal to bring the talented young midfielder to Stadio Arechi 

A deal for Caviglia, Di Marzio adds, is ‘done’.

Now, you may be wondering what all this has to do with Rangers. 

Well, Salernitana had shown an interest in one Glen Kamara before turning to Caviglia. I Granata went into the January window hoping to bring in a new central midfielder, and TuttoSalernitana believe Kamara was one of the club’s number one targets; a potential reunion with one-time Ibrox team-mate Lassana Coulibaly on the cards. 

Now, Caviglia’s arrival at the Arechi does not automatically draw a line in magic marker under Salernitana’s intrest in Kamara. But it does give Beale’s hopes of hanging onto the Finland international – until the summer at least – a timely boost. 

“He’s got to be happy, hasn’t he, playing his football,” Beale said back in December.

The former QPR boss wasted no time in throwing his support behind Kamara; a key cog in Gerrard’s title-winning machine which malfunctioned under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.  

“Certainly, at this moment in time, he probably wouldn’t be happy with himself being in and out of the team. No footballer ever is. I think he has always conducted himself very well. I worked with Glen for three and a half years (alongside Steven Gerrard).”

“He will be a big player for Rangers moving forward. My business is getting the best out of Glen.”
