Juventus have reportedly made Benfica star Alex Grimaldo their number-one choice to replace Alex Sandro, with Arsenal and Manchester City both interested in signing the left-back in the summer.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Italian giants are looking to find a long-term replacement for the Brazilian international, with Sandro’s contract, worth a £153,000-a-week according to Salary Sport, set to expire next summer, with the defender seemingly ready to leave Juventus.
With Grimaldo’s contract also expiring next summer, Juventus have identified the Benfica star as an ideal replacement for Sandro, though the Serie A side could face competition from the likes of Arsenal and City to sign the former FC Barcelona academy star.
CalcioMercto reported during the summer that the Premier League title chasers were both interested in signing Grimaldo this summer, with Barcelona also in the mix to bring their former left-back back to the club as a long-term replacement for Jordi Alba, who TuttoMercatoWeb state is also on Juventus’ radar.

With Grimaldo set to end his stay in Lisbon, the defender will no doubt be one of the most sought-after left-backs in Europe this January given his contract situation and incredible accolades and achievements with Benfica over the years. And for Juventus, they might consider themselves favourites to sign the defender.
indeed, Arsenal went big to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from City in the summer, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side in return signed Sergio Gomez from R.S.C. Anderlecht, with the Spanish youngster impressing in his first season with the reigning Premier League champions, and these factors play perfectly into Juventus’ hands.
Juventus could be in the clear to sign Grimaldo this summer

Grimaldo has been linked with a move away from Benfica for what feels like forever, yet this upcoming January feels like the right time for the defender to leave Portugal for a top-five league, and Juventus could sign the left-back unopposed with Arsenal and City already sorted in the position.
After all, both English sides are stacked at left-back, and with Juventus eager to improve on the position in January, signing Grimaldo could be an easy process for the Old Lady if they work fast enough to bring the 27-year-old to Turin in 2023.
