Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now being linked with Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, and so are Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

According to CM, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Gleison Bremer from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Chelsea are looking at Bremer after the long-term injury suffered by Wesley Fofana.

Former Serie A and UEFA Champions League winners Juventus are willing to sell the £154,000-a-week (SalarySport) Brazil international central defender to Chelsea for €50 million (£43.30 million), according to the report.

Chelsea should think twice about bidding for Gleison Bremer

In our opinion, even for £43 million, Chelsea should think twice about making a bid for Juventus central defender Gleison Bremer in the summer transfer window.

Wesley Fofana could reportedly be on the sidelines for most of next season.

So, some could argue that Chelsea need to find a replacement for Fofana, at least for the short term.

The 22-year-old Frenchman made 12 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea last season.

The youngster scored one goal in those games.

However, if you look at the Chelsea squad as it stands now, you would see that there is no need for the Blues to bring in a new centre-back, even for the short term.

Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill and Malang Sarr are the current options at centre-back for Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Even if Chelsea sold Sarr, Pochettino would still have four players to play at centre-back until Fofana recovers.

Another thing that Chelsea need to consider regarding a move for Bremer is what happens when Fofana is fully fit.

Chelsea would have too many players for the same position.

That would create another problem for the Blues.
