Juventus boss Max Allegri has said he is hopeful Gonzalo Higuain will be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur next week.

Higuain got injured 15 minutes into Juventus’ derby with Torino a fortnight ago and has not played since.

He has been ruled out of Juventus’ game with Lazio this weekend but there is still a chance the prolific striker will be fit to face Spurs at Wembley.

Allegri is saving him for a potential return in the Champions League last 16 second leg.

He told Goal Italy: “He still has pain on his ankle and for Saturday the times are tight, we hope to have it for Wednesday.”

Gonzalo Higuain of Juventus FC greets fans after the serie A match between ACF Fiorentina and Juventus at Stadio Artemio Franchi on February 9, 2018 in Florence, Italy.

Higuain scored Juventus’ two goals in the 2-2 draw in Turin, but he also missed a penalty.

Juventus have already suffered one injury blow with Fernando Bernardeschi picking up an injury since the first leg which could rule him out for the rest of the season.

Not having Higuain in the line up at Wembley would be a major blow to Juventus and would give Spurs extra confidence they can progress.
