Everton should consider a move for the Juventus centre-back.

Medhi Benatia of Juventus reacts during the serie A match between Juventus and AS Roma on December 23, 2017 in Turin, Italy.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Juventus ace Medhi Benatia is available for just €10 million (£8.7 million) this month, and Everton should seriously consider signing the centre-back.

Marco Silva clearly needs more quality in his central defensive department, with Phil Jagielka nearing the end of his career and the duty still out on Michael Keane.

Benatia, 31, is vastly experienced, and is still considered to be one of the best central defenders in the game, and he would surely prove to be a real asset for the Toffees.

The Moroccan is a tenacious tackle, a wonderful reader of the game, and is an expert man-marker – three things that would surely see him succeed in the Premier League.

He has a wealth of experience of winning major honours, including two Bundesliga titles and two Serie A titles to his name, and that kind of mentality would undoubtedly be a major boost to Everton’s hopes of finishing inside the top seven this season.

Benatia has also earned 55 caps that he has earned for the Morocco national team, and he would arguably be an upgrade on all of Silva’s current centre-back options.

In today’s day and age, £8.7 million for a player with the Juventus ace’s quality surely has to be considered as excellent value for money, and the Portuguese quite simply must explore the possibility of bringing the centre-back to Everton this month.
