Marcello Lippi has dropped a hint that Juventus could be in the hunt for either Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino or Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to take over as head coach from Massimiliano Allegri.

The 51-year-old Italian will leave Juve after Sunday’s trip to Sampdoria and five consecutive Serie A titles, and there has been much speculation regarding who could possibly take the Bianconeri reins after his departure.

According to The Independent, the Juventus hierarchy would ideally want a manager who has similar charisma to Allegri, and could command the respect of a dressing room containing many influential players from South America.

As a result, Spurs’ Argentine manager has emerged as a potential candidate, while Sarri, being Italian and having previously managed in Serie A, is also being reportedly considered for a swift return to his homeland.

Lippi, who led Juventus to five Serie A trophies during his time in charge, alluded that a coaching announcement could come after the Champions League final – featuring Tottenham and Liverpool – or Europa League final – featuring Chelsea and Arsenal..

“Why hasn’t a well-run club like Juventus named the successor to Allegri yet? Well it’s a difficult decision to make, but perhaps they are waiting for a certain competition to end,” the 71-year-old is quoted by Goal.com as saying.

“We’ll see if their new coach comes from those involved in either of the all-English finals, then we will understand the reason for the delay of the announcement.”
