Adam Schenk won his first PGA Tour event at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, a final round that drew the attention of viewers, including fellow golfer Justin Thomas.
This time of year is always focused on players trying to keep their tour cards, and that was no different on Sunday.
With only the top 100 keeping full membership status after The RSM Classic, the pressure is higher than ever before.
Schenk secured his spot at the top level with a breakthrough win in what was his 243rd start, lifting him from 134th to 67th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Justin Thomas comments on Butterfield Bermuda Championship final

The weather made things especially tough on Sunday in Bermuda, with co-leader Braden Thornberry shooting an 80 to finish tied for 22nd.
It was a harsh day for some, but Justin Thomas took to social media to say it was actually pretty compelling to watch.
He wrote: “This tournament in Bermuda on @GolfChannel is must watch TV right now! Guys battling to win the tournament and also for their tour cards, and it looks like it’s blowing 40+ MPH. Half the guys no hats on from the wind. Straight carnage. My kind of golf!!!”
Thomas also replied to a fan who said that when the weather comes into play, it tends to make tournaments more exciting.
“Can’t draw up the weather haha, but I do hear you. Adds an element to any course makes it very difficult. But not something you can predict or plan for.”
Butterfield Bermuda Championship: how six players managed to break 70 on Sunday
Schenk’s final round scorecard might not have given away just how tough the conditions were. He finished with a single birdie and one bogey, steady enough to hold his nerve.
But the day was not short of chaos.
Just six players managed to shoot under 70 on a par-71 layout, with Camilo Villegas posting the best round of the day at 67.
| Player | Final round score |
| Camilo Villegas | 67 |
| Alex Smalley | 68 |
| Zac Blair | 68 |
| Steven Fisk | 68 |
| Jesper Svensson | 69 |
| Jonathan Byrd | 69 |
The highest previous winning score in tournament history was 15 under. Schenk came in at 12 under, setting a new mark for difficulty.
Still, the event gave fans a finish they will not forget anytime soon, helped along by conditions that turned an ordinary Sunday into something memorable.
