Justin Gaethje is looking to get onto the White House card, but not in the match-up that many might expect.

The American feels he has earned a shot at the lightweight belt and has chosen to hold out for that opportunity rather than take another fight in the meantime.

The decision to wait ended up working out in his favour, as an interim lightweight title fight is now set to headline UFC 324 later this month.

Paddy Pimblett believes he can outstrike Gaethje and win the belt, setting up what could be one of the biggest fights of the year.

However, ‘The Highlight’ has since shared that unifying the titles with Ilia Topuria is not at the top of his list when the champion returns from his break.

Dana White has mentioned that Topuria will take on the winner of UFC 324 to unify the lightweight titles.

Both Pimblett and Gaethje would be exciting match-ups for the champion once he is back in action.

But ‘The Highlight’ seems more interested in another opponent, especially with an eye on the promotion’s event at the White House in June.

Speaking to TNT Sports about his thoughts on the match-up between two of his former opponents, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, at UFC 326, Gaethje said he would like things to line up so he could get a rematch with ‘Blessed’.

“I love it. I hope Max wins, I hope Ilia goes up and then I can fight Max on the White House card and take the BMF belt and the championship.”

Justin Gaethje might not be the only one eyeing up the BMF belt after UFC 326

Gaethje is not the only top lightweight planning to keep a close eye on the main event at UFC 326.

Arman Tsarukyan recently mentioned that if he does not get a shot at the lightweight title, he would be interested in fighting whoever holds the BMF belt.

Speaking to TNT Sports, ‘The Highlight’ stated he is not looking past UFC 324, although he does desire a rematch with Holloway.

“Nope. I’ve said it before, I don’t even plan on being alive after the fight so if that’s how it ends, that’s how it ends,” Gaethje said.
