Justice for the 96: Twitter reaction to Hillsborough inquiry

Twitter reaction to the Hillsborough developments emanating today and rippling through not just Liverpool supporters, but football, sport and society as a whole.

Today new reports have been released to the public domain finally giving the families of the 96 people who passed away at Hillsborough 23 years ago some remnant of justice.

The overwhelming sense of the report made it very clear that football fans were not to blame in any way towards the chain of events that lead to a crush at the Sheffield stadium.

Instead blame was laid at the door of South Yorkshire Police who failed to protect the fans on that fateful day. He went on to condemn what was a ‘double injustice’ after the police appeared to denigrate the deceased with fake tales of hooliganism and rife alcohol presence as factors in the tragedy. Today it was proved they were not.

David Cameron went on to apologise for the governments failings, a sentiment shared with Labour leader Ed Milliband and insisted that Attorney General Dominic Grieve will review the report as quickly as possible.

This would be another step in the right direction for Justice for the 96 people who perished, and the families and loved ones whose lives were so permanently and mortally affected by the events of April 15th 1989.

Here is what the Twitter community has made of the revelations throughout the day…
