Harry Redknapp spoke in awe of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on TalkSport Breakfast (27/10/20 at 7:45 am) and the two ‘word-class’ goals he scored on Friday night.

The former Premier League boss also pointed out that Bamford has shown that he ‘certainly can do it’ at the top level despite ‘always’ being a question mark.

Bamford netted a quite brilliant hat-trick on Friday night to score his fourth, fifth and sixth league goals of the season.

Redknapp shared his thoughts on those goals and the Englishmen’s recent step up to the elite where he is currently thriving.

“I mean that hat-trick of Bamford’s, I mean two of them goals were just word-class, weren’t they?” Redknapp said. “What finishes.

“It’s great to see him scoring. There is always a question mark about a boy like that, who gets promoted with Leeds. He’s been in and around the Premier League before, can he do it?

“Well, he is showing that he certainly can do it.”

Amazingly enough for Bamford, at the start of the season, the question that was being asked by critics was whether he’s good enough for the step up.

Well, those very same people are now debating whether he should become an England international next month given his form.

Either way, Bamford has proven a lot of people wrong during his time at Elland Road and he’s not stopping there because he’s getting better and better.

Deeney also impressed with Bamford

Well, Redknapp isn’t the only one impressed with Bamford because Watford striker Troy Deeney was raving about him on TalkSport (26/10/20 at 9:10 am) and the club itself.

“The amount of stick I used to see him get last year as well,” Deeney told TalkSport. “He was obviously doing well.

“But to get promoted and you can see Pat’s gone ‘right, this is where I want to show you what I am about’. And it might be, no fans there is helping him. It helps with some people.

“He is scoring and he has always been a good finisher, so fair play to him and he deserves it – they have got some talent in that team and Leeds’ youth development is always going to bring through players as well. And they’re doing it without Phillips, who is perhaps their best player, tip your hat to Leeds and long may it continue.”
