Just why are Spurs fourth favourites for the Premier League title next season? After all, the North London outfit finished as high as second in the league table in 2016-17.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended up third in the Premier League in 2015-16. Spurs have clearly progressed over the past three or so seasons, and it is still amazing that they are only fourth favourites for next season’s title.

Manchester City just about managed to break into the top four this season, while Manchester United ended up behind Arsenal in sixth place.

True, City, United and Chelsea all are likely to make major signings in the summer transfer window and strengthen their respective squads, so could Tottenham.

Even if Spurs do not splash the cash this summer, they have a squad good enough to push for the title yet again next season.
