Former Southampton star Gareth Bale is potentially re-signing for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

BBC Sport claimed on Tuesday that Spurs were speaking to Real Madrid about bringing him back to North London.

ESPN added earlier today that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is certain that the 31-year-old attacker will shine in the Premier League again, after a trying couple of years in the Spanish capital.

Bale was left out of Real’s Champions League defeat by Manchester City last month, amid suggestions that he has burned his bridges with coach Zinedine Zidane.

The Wales international joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2007, after one season in the Saints’ senior side.

And as luck would have it, his first game for the Lilywhites could come against the St Mary’s club, where Mourinho’s side go on Sunday afternoon.

Here’s how fans of the South-Coast club reacted to Bale potentially returning to England.

The Lilywhites spent only £10 million on Bale 13 years ago [BBC Sport], the same player they sold for a then-world record fee of £85 million in 2013.
