Diego Carlos has told Richarlison on Instagram that this is ‘just the beginning’ after the Tottenham forward scored a brace on his Champions League debut.

Antonio Conte’s side beat Marseille 2-0 on Wednesday night, with Richarlison scoring, not just his first goals for Spurs, but also his first goals in Europe.

In the summer, the north London club broke their transfer record to sign the all-action winger from Everton.

Everton’s financial situation, added with the lure of Champions League football, was too good for the player to turn down and the Toffees to refuse.

Richarlison didn’t start straightaway for Conte, with Dejan Kulusevski ahead of him, but he is now earning those minutes and producing the goods.

Nonetheless, following the conclusion of yesterday’s game, Richarlison was with his family on the sidelines and the player was visibly upset as he embraced his mum and dad.

In the comments section of the Brazil star’s IG post, he received a lot of warm messages, including from Villa’s £26 million defender, Diego Carlos (Sky Sports), who told him ‘this is just the beginning’.

RICHARLISON TO START AGAINST MAN CITY?

Richarlison didn’t score over the weekend, but he did put in a fine display against Fulham and backed that up in Europe.

Now, with a trip to Manchester City awaiting Spurs, does Conte change his front three for that encounter?

Harry Kane is a sure starter, whilst the recently benched Dejan Kulusevski scored at the Etihad last season.

Son Heung-min is the Golden Boot winner from last season and he also scored against Man City in 2021/22, but he is yet to find the back of the net this term, so will he be the one to make way?
