Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Thomas Tuchel substituted Saul Niguel in the 46th minute of Chelsea’s 2-1 win last night.
What’s the story?
Well, much was made of Liverpool missing out on the Spaniard over the summer.
It was Mundo Deportivo who claimed that Liverpool were in talks to sign Saul back in the summer.
However, the 27-year-old eventually joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Atlético Madrid.
At the time, Liverpool fans were furious after missing out, but now, Saul is being viewed as a dodged bullet for Jürgen Klopp and the Reds.
It’s the second time this season that Tuchel has withdrawn Saul at half-time, doing so in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa back in September as well.
One Liverpool fan below even claimed that the £198,269-a-week man would be Klopp’s ninth choice in midfield at the moment.
Saul struggles prove Liverpool know what they’re doing
In our view, we can’t believe some Liverpool fans still question the club’s recruitment at times – it’s arguably the best in Europe.
There was huge frustration towards Fenway Sports Group (FSG) for their lack of transfer investment over the summer.
Ibrahima Konate’s £36m move from RB Leipzig was Liverpool’s only signing.
We could understand the concerns about squad depth at the time, although last season was a freakish campaign, and as seen this term, that volume of injury problems is not the norm.
In Michael Edwards, Liverpool have one of the best Sporting Directors around, and arguably the best coach around in Klopp.
