Martin Odegaard was apparently furious with Bukayo Saka during Arsenal’s massive victory at Chelsea tonight.
Arsenal reinvigorated their Champions League qualification bid by winning 4-2 away to the reigning European champions.
Despite a depleted squad due to injuries, the Gunners reminded everybody what a good team they are on their day with an excellent performance at Stamford Bridge.
One player who struggled for parts of the game was Saka.
The 20-year-old started in a relatively unfamiliar wing-back role and it seems like his Norwegian teammate wasn’t happy with him at one point during the first half.
Despite being a wing-back, Saka’s attacking and defensive play was a little narrow at times.
And according to Graeme Le Saux, speaking live on NBC Sport, the England international infuriated Odegaard at one point.
He said: “I’ve just seen Odegaard screaming at him to try support him from behind so Odegaard could press. He’s a little bit confused.”
Saka, who earns £30,000 per week at the Emirates Stadium, has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this season.
But tonight was something of an off-game for him, with the likes of Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah – who scored twice in the 4-2 victory – out-shining him to some extent.
Nevertheless, he is allowed a 5 or 6/10 every now and again, so long as the rest of the Arsenal players impress – and they definitely did tonight.
Mikel Arteta’s troops are now level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, with both teams having seven games to play.
