Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that striker Gabriel Jesus was “phenomenal” against Graham Potter’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the London derby on Sunday.

Arteta believes that Jesus played well for Arsenal against Chelsea in the Premier League game today despite not scoring.

The Brazil international striker had a good chance to score in the first half.

Arsenal eventually scored in the second half through Brazilian defender Gabriel.

It proved to be the winners, as the Gunners won the London derby against Chelsea 1-0.

Arteta was impressed by the Arsenal front-three of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Jesus.

Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Jesus for Arsenal v Chelsea

The Arsenal boss said about the front three’s pressing: “They’ve been phenomenal.

“They have a real willingness to do it and they are capable physically now to do it and maintain it because they have been matured.

“The difference is demanding them to do something and then them feeling how important and beneficial it is for themselves.

“Then starting with Gabi (Jesus). What he did today was just phenomenal.”

Smart management

Gabriel Jesus played well for Arsenal against Chelsea today, just as he has been doing for a while.

However, the former Manchester City striker is struggling for goals at the moment.

Now, that will be a concern even with Arsenal winning matches, but Arteta seems to have played it down by pointing at Jesus’s pressing.

It is a very good management from Arteta, who is clearly backing Jesus and is highlighting what he is doing well at the moment.
