Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Jurrien Timber.
Mikel Arteta has told TNT Sports that Jurrien Timber has been “just phenomenal” for Arsenal in pre-season.
Timber joined Arsenal from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
According to TNT Sports, Premier League club Arsenal paid Eredivisie outfit Ajax £34 million in transfer fees for Timber.
The 22-year-old is a versatile player who can play as as centre-back, right-back or left-back.
TNT Sports have reported that Arsenal manager Arteta has used the Netherlands international in both full-back positions during pre-season.
And the Spaniard has been really impressed by his summer signing.
Arteta said about Timber: “[He’s] very versatile. He has so much courage and I love his personality.
The way he’s come, the way he has adapted and glided into the team, just phenomenal.
“He’s done it so quickly. I ask him to play on the right, to play on the left – a very intelligent player. It just comes naturally for him, our way of playing. I’m delighted to have him.”

Jurrien Timber could be a big player for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal
In our opinion, Jurrien Timber could prove to be a massive signing for Arsenal, not just for now, but for years to come as well.
After all, Timber is only 22 at the moment.
Under Arteta, the Netherlands international is likely to improve and get better.
Just look at Martin Odegaard and William Saliba.
Norway international attacking midfielder Odegaard struggled to make an impact at Real Madrid, but under Arteta at Arsenal, he is flourishing and is going from strength to strength.
It took a while for Saliba, but the Frenchman was superb for the Gunners last season and is set to stay in the starting lineup this campaign as well.
Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
The North London club will also look to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
