Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe struggled to make an impact against Burton.

Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe could do little to stop his side slipping to a critical 2-1 loss against Burton at the weekend.

The Whites went into the game knowing a victory would keep play-off qualification in their own hands with two matches remaining, now they are dependent on other results.

Roofe was an expensive addition by Leeds’ standards in the summer from Oxford, but has struggled to meet expectations.

At the weekend he did not even get close, delivering a woeful display.

He managed just 10 complete passes in 90 minutes, touching the ball only 33 times. Teammate Pablo Hernandez by contrast had 110 touches.

Not a one-off

This is not a one-off for Roofe, in fact it has been a worrying trend, even present in home games

These are the six games this season he has completed the fewest touches in, from which he has completed 90 minutes.

Roofe needs to do better and get more involved, but head coach Garry Monk must also share the responsibility.

The boss has not managed to get the best out of Roofe since he signed, or even figure out a way to get him involved more regularly.

On average this season Roofe manages 27 touches per game and just 11.6 passes. If he can’t get on the ball then he can’t influence matches, and Leeds need to find a way to get the former West Brom youngster more involved.
