Steven Gerrard has admitted that he’s a massive fan of Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane – and in particular, his penalty-taking abilities.
With 178 Premier League goals, the Spurs marksman could wind up being the competition’s greatest-ever goalscorer.
The 28-year-old has also scored 26 times in this competition from the penalty spot and hasn’t missed one from 12 yards in over four years.
Gerrard was Liverpool’s go-to-guy for spot kicks during his illustrious career at Anfield.
But even the Aston Villa manager is impressed by the England international in this regard.
Asked by Gary Neville on The Overlap who he’d give a last-minute penalty to, he said: “Harry Kane. Just like….wow. The technique, the speed and accuracy. I think he’s mastered that [penalties]. Fair play to him.”
Kane isn’t flawless from the penalty spot.
According to Transfermarkt, he has missed five for Tottenham across all competitions, but we’re talking about throughout an 11-year period which is phenomenal – and two were in the Europa League during his younger days.
Gerrard is right – Kane is absolutely lethal from 12 yards these days and he’d probably be most peoples’ pick.
The Lilywhites attacker has so many strings to his bow that it’s simply ridiculous.
Even if he isn’t scoring by the boat load, he’s assisting and that’s evident by the fact he set up three goals against Gerrard’s Aston Villa outfit last week.
