According to Steven Beck, Rangers are keen to sign Manchester United prodigy James Garner, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to Stretty News, Beck said: “Third loan? I honestly don’t know. I know Brighton like him, I know Norwich like him. I know Rangers are really keen on him as well.”
As Garner’s agent states, Norwich – who look set to be a Premier League side next season – and Brighton are keen on the 20-year-old as well as the Gers.
However, Rangers may well have the edge if Manchester United decide to ship the England Under-20 international out again.
Why?
Well, by his own admission, Garner used to idolise Steven Gerrard when he was growing up, and said he wanted to be just like the Rangers boss.
As quoted by Watford’s official website, the Birkenhead-born maestro said: “My idol was probably Steven Gerrard. I used to watch all the games with my Dad and he was the main player who I used to watch and I wanted to be like him.
“I used to wear the Predators, just like him, and I still do today.”

Now, if Rangers manage to get Garner and Gerrard at the negotiating table, surely he would end up at Ibrox given his admiration for the 40-year-old?
It’s one thing idolising Gerrard, but to actually play under him would be a whole different story for the young prospect.
If we had the opportunity to play under our idol, we certainly wouldn’t turn it down.
Interestingly, we feel like this could become a frequent occurrence.

Nowadays, a lot of the wonderkids rising through the ranks will have been starstruck by Gerrard growing up, as he would’ve been in his prime while they were just falling in love with football, presumably.
In that respect, Rangers could become an even more attractive club for these young prodigies as long as Gerrard is at the helm.
Keep an eye on Garner’s future this summer, for he could well end up at Ibrox given his love for Gerrard.
