Said Benrahma returned to Brentford’s matchday squad over the weekend, as the future of the reported Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa target remains up in the air.

The Algerian trickster hasn’t been part of Brentford’s matchday plans ever since their play-off final defeat to Fulham, which has understandably increased his chances of potentially leaving this summer, but he came back on Saturday.

90 Min previously linked both Palace and Arsenal to his signature, with the report stating that he’s seemingly hopeful of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

In August, the Daily Mail also linked Benrahma’s name with Aston Villa, with Dean Smith already snapping up his teammate Ollie Watkins from his former club.

Well, a selection of fans reacted to the winger’s return over the weekend, as his side recorded a 1-1 draw against Millwall.

There were some who admitted that they didn’t expect to see him in a Brentford shirt again as time is ticking if he wants to make a move to England’s top-flight.

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

It seems that the potential big price-tag on Benrahma’s shoulders is what’s holding him back rather than his talents because he showcased that week in, week out last term.

Given that there has been so much speculation surrounding him, and the Bees have sold their star players in the past – Watkins, Neal Maupay, Chris Mepham and Ezri Konsa, to name a few, it still wouldn’t be a surprise if a deal is done even though there’s little time left.
