Writing on Liverpool’s official club website, Pep Lijnders has claimed that Caoimhin Kelleher has been absolutely brilliant in Liverpool training.
The assistant manager was writing his training diary, documenting what’s been happening in the Reds’ camp, and he says that Kelleher has been one of the best players.
Indeed, the Merseyside outfit had a mini-tournament this week, and Kelleher was Lijnders’ Player of the Tournament.
What’s been said?
Lijnders was blown away by Kelleher’s performance in training.
“But, to be honest, the player of the tournament was Kelleher. His shot stopping and speed reactions were just insane. It shows that a goalkeeper can win you tournaments. There was some swearing from the older players towards him!” Lijnders wrote.

Big season ahead
It would take a lot for any goalkeeper to displace Alisson Becker as the Reds’ number one, but if Kelleher keeps this up, he could have a chance.
At the age of just 22, the youngster has a lot of room to grow, and if he’s putting in performances like this in training he’ll surely catch Jurgen Klopp’s eye.
Can Kelleher challenge Alisson this season? Perhaps, but even if he doesn’t manage to usurp the Brazilian this term, Reds supporters can rest easy knowing they have a brilliant number two if their stopper is injured or suspended at any point.
