Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has raved about the quality of Mohamed Salah after Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp against Pep Guardiola, potentially for the last time, with the Premier League title race taking centre stage?
This one was always going to be a breathless encounter but Liverpool may feel a little frustrated.
John Stones bagged the opener for City but Alexis Mac Allister pulled Liverpool level from the penalty spot.
The Reds then had the best of the second half but just couldn’t find a winner, eventually having to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Jurgen Klopp on Mohamed Salah
Liverpool were still missing a number of key players, so this result will feel like a real positive for Klopp and co.
The Reds were able to call upon Mohamed Salah from the bench though and the Egyptian made an impact.
Salah created one unbelievable chance as he threaded a pass through the City defence for Luis Diaz to run clean through on goal.
Diaz got the finish all wrong but that kind of quality is exactly why Salah is one of the Premier League’s very best.
Klopp loved what he saw from Salah’s substitute appearance, telling Sky Sports that the winger’s quality is ‘just insane’.

Klopp noted that Salah ‘has no rhythm’ after a period on the sidelines but is hopeful that he will build up momentum after Sunday’s appearance.
“Mo is coming back and his quality is just insane, in the first situation we score nearly!” said Klopp. “But he has no rhythm, another 30, 40 minutes and from now, he can go,” he added.
That Liverpool are still right in the title race after so many injuries is astonishing and a testament to Klopp’s brilliance as a manager.
To miss a player like Salah for any length of time would be a blow but this was just his third Premier League appearance of 2024.
Injury and the Africa Cup of Nations of course contributed to that and Liverpool will be desperate to get Salah up to speed for the run-in.
If Sunday’s performance is anything to go by, Salah will be looking to make up for lost time very, very quickly.
