Don Hutchison has raved about Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard on ESPN and has praised him for his performance against West Ham United.

The former West Ham midfielder, who now works as a pundit for ESPN, was impressed by the display produced by Odegaard in the second half of the London derby.

Arsenal came from three goals down to play out a 3-3 draw with the Hammers away from home at London Stadium in the Premier League at the weekend.

Hutchison said about Odegaard on ESPN: “Second half Odegaard was just, I said the word, silk, he was just incredible. He is just so silky on the ball, very easy on the eye, he dominated the game in the second half and put in a brilliant performance.”

Rising star

Odegaard was superb for Arsenal against West Ham, especially in the second half, and played a big role in the comeback with his passes, vision and creativity.

According to WhoScored, the 22-year-old Norway international took three shots and one was on target, played four key passes, had a pass accuracy of 93.4%, took 95 touches, attempted four dribbles, and put in nine crosses.

Odegaard has scored one goal in 474 minutes in the Premier League and has scored one goal in 295 minutes in the Europa League for Arsenal since his loan move from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, according to WhoScored.

A report in Eurosport today has claimed that Arsenal are hoping to keep the Norway international attacking midfielder next season and beyond and could have to pay £40 million plus add-ons to make his loan deal permanent.

Given the impact that Odegaard is making at Arsenal and his huge potential, it would make sense for the Gunners to make the youngster’s loan deal permanent.

Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe could form a brilliant attacking midfield partnership for years to come.
