Tim Sherwood has suggested on the Weekend Preview that Tottenham should be ‘waiting in the wings just in case’ Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel.
The one-time Tottenham boss made it clear that he cannot see Chelsea parting ways with the German.
But given the reputation of a certain Roman Abramovich, the fact that they could miss out on the top four and lose the Champions League final then the ex-Tottenham man thinks Chelsea could be looking for a new boss.
Ahead of the final day of the Premier League season, and Chelsea’s up and coming Champions League final, Sherwood shared his thoughts on what faces Tuchel on the other side and what Daniel Levy should do if the unthinkable happens.
“It’s fine margins as a football manager,” said Sherwood. “We talked about him in glowing terms in the last few months. He has been brilliant. He has got to two cup finals. But didn’t manage to win one.
“They have a tough task to beat Man City in the next one and they could finish outside of the top four.
“Now, going down the history of that football club. Normally, when you underachieve like that, forget the cup finals and forget missing out on the last day. Roman Abramovich doesn’t look at that. He looks at the output and what you have actually delivered.
“They could be looking at a new manager for next season. I don’t think for one minute they should. I think he’s a very talented coach.
“But if I am Tottenham and Daniel Levy then I am waiting in the wings just in case if they make that decision to get rid of him, which they won’t. But it could be their best season or their worst season in a very long time.”

Even if Chelsea are playing Europa League football next season, it’s Tuchel who has to and surely will still be in charge.
As for Tottenham, the fans are up in arms about what’s happening to their club, with Daniel Levy making bad call after bad call.
And with those Harry Kane rumours swirling around like a tornado hitting the sea, Levy has to act quickly in bringing in a new face because there doesn’t seem to be much light at the end of the tunnel.
