Quite a few Tottenham Hotspur fans are in agreement with one transfer suggestion from Jermain Defoe.
Speaking to The Beautiful Game podcast this week, the former Spurs hitman – now at Rangers – encouraged his former club to make a move for Nathan Ake.
Defoe said: “I would love to see him at Tottenham you know. He’s got so much potential.”
Daniel Levy might be in the market for a centre-back or two, as Juan Foyth is injured and Jan Vertonghen is leaving.
That leaves Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho with only Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier – a midfielder by trade – as centre-half options ahead of the 2020-21 campagin.
And some fans of the North London club would love to see Ake signed from Bournemouth.
This really isn’t a bad shout and the Cherries might not be able to demand top dollar.
That’s because Eddie Howe’s side are 18th in the Premier League table with three games to go, and three points adrift of 17th-placed Watford.
They could very well get relegated this season and if they do, it’ll be interesting to see if Tottenham make a call about Ake, a £20 million signing in 2017.
