Tottenham sold Juan Foyth to Villarreal last summer on a permanent deal, after initially joining the Yellow Submarine on loan for the 2020-21 season. Just half a season after his permanent exit, Real Madrid are interested.
Foyth, 24, failed to shine at Tottenham. Bought by Mauricio Pochettino, he struggled to break into the side. Just 32 appearances came his way, and Jose Mourinho decided to let him go on loan – and he was eventually sold.
In his first season with Unai Emery at Villarreal, he won the Europa League trophy. It saw Villarreal decide to buy Foyth for £12.5million (Marca). His form has been excellent since, whether that is at right-back or centre-back.
That form is earning the attention of even bigger clubs. CalcioMercato report that Real Madrid are keen on signing Foyth from Villarreal ahead of the summer window. He has a contract at Villarreal until June 2026.

The signs were there. When Foyth did have a run of games, mostly under Pochettino, he did impress – albeit the odd mistake given his inexperience. But there was enough to tell that in the future, he would be a good player.
The blunder came in the form of including a permanent clause in his loan to Villarreal. He starred for the Spanish side during the loan and it saw Villarreal jump at the chance to make his move to Spain permanent.
Spurs made a small profit from the move, but just a year later, he could be off to Real Madrid for a much bigger fee. Ultimately, Spurs have missed out on a really good player – or a really big figure. Another mistake.
