Jose Enrique has suggested that Liverpool could take a giant step toward retaining their Premier League title if they sign Ismaila Sarr.

According to France Football, the Reds have made a bid as high as £36 million for the relegated Watford winger.

Speculation continued this morning after the reported Liverpool target was omitted from his side’s Carabao Cup clash with Newport County last night.

Even before they were relegated from the Premier League, there were rumours that the Anfield club were interested in the jet-heeled winger.

And Enrique has intimated on Instagram that Liverpool – who signed Thiago and Diogo Jota last week – will be too strong for their rivals if they also add Sarr to the squad.

Thr 22-year-old scored five and set up six goals in 28 Premier League outings last season.

For a relegated side like the Hornets, that’s a pretty decent return for a wide player and you can understand why Liverpool are reportedly keen.

There was nothing lucky about them winning the title last term, but there’s no denying that they wouldn’t have won it as easily had one of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino picked up a serious injury, but the Merseyside outfit’s star-studded trio were fit pretty much all season.

Should one of them pick up an injury this time around, Klopp already has Jota to step in – and with Sarr potentially, there’s a lot more depth.
