Mark Lawrenson has paid tribute to Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, claiming he just gets better and better.
Robertson helped the Premier League champions to a 4-0 win over Wolves at Anfield last night as Jurgen Klopp’s side moved level on points with Spurs at the summit once more.
The Scotland international, a £8 million signing in 2017, had the unenviable task of marking the troublesome – and enormous – Adama Traore.
But for the most part, Robertson, who also had Nelson Semedo to contend with, coped brilliantly with the duo.
In terms of what he does, the 26-year-old left-back is no less consistent than any of his more high-profile Liverpool team-mates, which is quite a compliment when you consider who those team-mates are.
And Lawrenson lauded the former Hull City star during the game, telling BBC Radio 5 Live: “This is going to be a really interesting battle between Andy Robertson and Adama Traore. Traore is muscly, strong and quick with a low centre of gravity and Robertson just gets better and better every time you see him play.”
It was a much easier night than it was supposed to be for Liverpool.
Klopp boasts much better players than Nuno Espirito Santo, of course, but Wolves are having another very decent season and came into the game on the back of a win at Arsenal.
But it was business as usual for the champions and Robertson certainly did his bit.
