Watford fans on Twitter were over the moon to see Ismaila Sarr return to their starting XI on Saturday despite links with Liverpool.

Vladimir Ivic’s decision to bring Sarr back was perhaps one of a surprise because he hasn’t been in any of Watford’s matchday squads this season, but started and played a part in their 1-0 win against their bitter rivals Luton.

France Football claimed recently that Liverpool remain interested in the 22-year-old attacker, who suffered relegation with the Hornets last season.

Sarr’s talents are there for all to see and Liverpool fans got a big taste of that when he netted a brace and ended their unbeaten Premier League run last term.

Given Liverpool’s rumoured interest, added with Sarr’s recent absence from Watford’s matchday squads, it seemed as though he was heading only one way – and that could still be the case.

But Watford supporters are delighted that he’s back because it does provide them with that boost that he may well stay at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

Equally, getting minutes under his belt, showcasing that he’s too good for the Championship, could result in a team putting the money on the table for his services because there’s still time for deals to be done.

But, for now, those at Vicarage Road were glad that their manager opted to put Sarr back into their team and focus on current matters.
