Tottenham Hotspur legend David Ginola is convinced Jose Mourinho can lead the London giants to the Premier League title while hailing the transformation of the ‘amazing’ Heung Min Son, speaking to talkSPORT (11 December, 10.40am).

Daniel Levy fired Mauricio Pochettino with the heaviest of hearts in October 2019 but, 14 months on, that difficult decision to dispense with a man who guided Spurs to the Champions League final is starting to look like an excellent one.

Because Mourinho is rapidly transforming a team of ‘nice boys’ and nearly men into a relentless winning machine reminiscent of the Chelsea team he led to glory all the way back in 2004.

After 11 games, Tottenham are top of the Premier League table, having taken seven points out of nine against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal – all the while keeping three successive clean sheets against their top six rivals.

Son opened the scoring in Sunday’s 2-0 North London derby victory over Arsenal, firing a wonderful shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

And Ginola believes, with the South Korean superstar in such supreme form and a cut-throat winner dictating things from the touchline, a first ever Premier League title is a realistic aim this season.

“I had a conversation with my son a few months ago when (Gareth) Bale signed for Tottenham. I said; ‘Well, I’m pretty sure if they carry on playing like that, they will be champions’. Jose Mourinho, when he’s got the players, I think he can deliver and I think he will deliver this year,” the Spurs herp says.

“The progression of Son is just amazing. He’s one of the best players in the world now! A few years ago, he was just a guy coming from South Korea.

“You add (Harry) Kane, you add Bale, you add other players and the way they play from the back to the front, they have a strong goalkeeper, a strong defence, they can be very creative in midfield and score goals up front – it’s a perfect combination to win the league

“It’s just a joy to watch the team.”

So far, only Everton targetman Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored more league goals this season (11) than Son (10), with Kane drumming up a fearsome partnership alongside Spurs’ number seven.
