Manchester City have reportedly made Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal a top target ahead of next summer’s window.
According to Eurosport, the Premier League champions are viewing the 24-year-old attacker as a potential alternative to Harry Kane. City attempted all summer to sign the Tottenham striker, but they were unable to seal a deal.
As per the report, Txiki Begiristain is an admirer of Oyarzabal and is keen to sign the Spanish international for City. The Sociedad star has a release clause of £67m.
With Bernardo Silva eager to leave City, there is a chance that Oyarzabal could be funded if the Portuguese international departs in January or next summer.
Indeed, a striker still remains a top priority for City, with the club unable to find a natural replacement for Sergio Aguero. This season has so far seen Ferran Torres take up the mantle in the opening four games.
Whilst Oyarzabal is a quality player and one who is destined to play for a bigger club later in his career, City fans on social media are fuming that the club reportedly view the Sociedad star as a target.

With Erling Haaland set to be available next summer for a similar fee, City supporters are questioning why the club would chase Oyarzabal when more suitable options are out there.
