Tottenham loanee Clinton N’Jie had a game to forget against PSG.

Last week Clinton N’Jie gave his loan spell at Marseille a lifeline when he scored in a win over Rennes after being selected as a central striker.

The Tottenham loanee was selected after an injury to Bafetimbi Gomis, and with the forward still out of action, N’Jie continued up front, this time against PSG.

It proved a disaster, with N’Jie substituted off after just 51 minutes with his side 3-0 down.

They went on to lose 5-1 in front of their home fans, with boos ringing around the Velodrome from those who chose to stay for the final whistle.

N’Jie managed only 14 touches in 51 minutes, with his one and only shot landing off target.

The defeat was an embarrassing one for Marseille, and showed than N’Jie is not a solution up front for anything more than as an emergency.

It is disappointing for N’Jie considering Tottenham’s need for a striker to support Harry Kane, with Vincent Janssen demonstrating this season he so far looks incapable of being what they require.

N’Jie was turfed out of White Hart Lane after just one season by Mauricio Pochettino, and convincing from afar was always going to be a long shot for him.

Last night underlined that Spurs shouldn’t get excited about his goal the previous weekend.
