Rangers boss Graeme Murty was frustrated Eduardo Herrera did not add to his tally at Ibrox last night.
Rangers got back to winning ways last night with a 2-0 win at Ibrox against Motherwell.
The Gers goals came through Danny Wilson and Alfredo Morelos, although manager Graeme Murty admits he was frustrated that Eduardo Herrera could not add to his paltry season tally.
The Mexican forward was signed by former boss Pedro Caixinha, and has struggled to make an impression for the Gers since arriving.
Herrera has only one goal in 18 league appearances for Rangers, which came back in August. His only other strike came in the League Cup in September.
He played all 90 minutes against Motherwell last night, and Murty says only excellent goalkeeping prevented him getting on the scoresheet.
Murty told Rangers’ official website: “I thought that the keeper made some great saves. I think that Eduardo was unlucky not to get one.
“Centre forwards are like that, they will keep getting into the right areas and hopefully they will go and get another goal.”
A goal could make all the difference to Herrera’s confidence, but after missing his opportunity last night, you would be hard pushed to expect him to make a meaningful contribution against Celtic at the weekend.
Murty added that he thought Morelos had blown his chance of scoring before he struck Rangers’ second, joking: “I honestly thought that he had taken a little too long on the ball to score, but that’s probably why he is a centre forward and I was a full back.”
