Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Jurgen Locadia has now been confirmed by PSV director of football Marcel Brands in Voetbal Magazine.

Locadia reportedly rejected Wolves as he didn’t want to play in the Championship, but four months down the line, he may be regretting that decision.

Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League next season has been confirmed, and Locadia may rue not having more faith in Nuno’s side’s push for a top two spot.

Locadia did move in January, but he opted to go to Brighton, in a £14 million transfer, rather than Wolves, to ensure that he was playing at the top level straight away.

However, the Dutch forward has been used sparingly at Brighton so far, and he may reflect on a missed opportunity.

If Locadia had signed for Wolves he would have had a chance to establish himself as the Midlands side’s main striker, prior to their promotion to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old may argue that Brighton are almost certain to also be playing top level football next season, so his decision has been vindicated.

But Wolves have such high ambitions, that their project looks extremely exciting.

And Locadia may have had more of a chance of reaching the top end of the Premier League with Wolves rather than Brighton, if he had just been happy to take the drop in standard for a few months.
