Speaking to OTB, Mark Lawrenson has been speaking about Ibrahima Konate and his development at Liverpool.
The Frenchman has been fantastic for the Reds so far this season, but as an experienced former defender, Lawrenson has been nitpicking.
The pundit says that Konate is somewhat suspect defensively, stating that he sometimes disappears from his position.
What’s been said?
The Liverpool legend gave his view on Konate.
“The problem is, Konate is learning. He’s going to be good, he’s got a great physique and he’s quick enough, but defensively, he disappears at times from his position, it’s something Konate is learning, and they have Matip as well to play there, so it’s not a massive issue, and he will only get better, but to be beaten on a regular basis from a ball through the middle is not good, and I’m sure Jurgen knows that,” Lawrenson said.

Maturity
As brilliant as Konate is, Lawrenson is right about the Frenchman.
Konate isn’t the most disciplined defensively. He can push forward far too frequently, while he’s also not brilliant at judging how close to stay to his striker.
Luckily, Nottingham Forest didn’t capitalise on their chances at the weekend, but with the title race looking like it could go down to the wire, Liverpool can’t afford to make a single defensive error between now and the end of the season.
