The Reds have reportedly made an £11 million offer for the 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund playmaker.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to be drawn on reports linking the club with a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic, telling ProSoccer Talk that he will not be discussing potential signings with the media before the summer transfer deadline.

Reports surfaced on Friday that Liverpool had lodged an £11 million bid for the 17-year-old American midfield, who joined Dortmund during Klopp’s time in charge of the club, and were waiting to hear whether their offer had been successful [h/t Daily Mail].

However, speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur, Klopp was keeping decidedly tight-lipped when asked whether the rumours of his interest in the US international were true.

“No transfer rumors. I have no comment for this,” the German told ProSoccerTalk. “Absolutely nothing to speak about. That’s for all the other cases too.

“When we know something and when we are close to doing something then we will inform you… or a little bit later.”

Pulisic, who hails from Hersey, Pennsylvania, officially joined Dortmund in February 2015 after acquiring a Croatian passport and has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in European football since breaking into the German side’s first-team over the second half of last season.

The highly-rated attacker became the youngster player in Bundesliga history to record two goals when he scored in back-to-back games in April, while he has also earned six USA caps since making his senior international debut in March.

His goal in May’s 4-0 friendly win over Bolivia made him the youngster player ever to score for the States in the modern era, and he proceeded to further underline his promise with a handful of bright cameos during the team’s run to the Copa America Centenario semi-finals.

However, with Dortmund signing Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Ousmane Dembele and Emre Mor over the summer, Pulisic is now believed to be worried about taking a step back at the Westfalenstadion this season.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, the teenager turned down a new contract offer earlier this year, and while Dortmund are saying he is not for sale at any price, there is reportedly a 50-50 chance he could be loaned or sold before next week’s transfer deadline.

German outlet Bild recently claimed that Stoke City had made a £17 million offer for the playmaking midfielder, while CSKA Moscow and Red Bull Leipzig have also been named as potential destinations along with Liverpool.

The Daily Mail previously reported back in April that Klopp had ordered his scouts to keep a close eye on the teenage wonderkid ahead of a potential summer bid, but the Liverpool Echo’s latest update on the situation suggests that there is little chance of a deal happening before the transfer deadline.
