Jurgen Klopp is leaving Premier League giants Liverpool but he would be the wrong fit to replace Massimiliano Allegri at Serie A challengers Juventus.

That is according to Massimo Bonanni, the former Roma, Palermo and Lazio midfielder convinced that Juventus and Jurgen Klopp would be less a match made in footballing heaven but a relationship destined for divorce.

The legendary Liverpool boss confirmed in a shock statement on Friday that he will leave Anfield at the end of the current campaign, with HITC Football understanding that Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso and Roberto de Zerbi of Brighton have admirers on Merseyside.

But what next for one of the most iconic managers of the 21st century?

Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool

Klopp’s impending departure will do little to quell the speculation surrounding a return to Germany with Bayern Munich. There are a couple of Italian giants who may be tempted to make a change in the dugout once Klopp becomes available too, meanwhile, though Bonanni feels that the former Dortmund boss would be a rather awkward fit at the Allianz Stadium.

“Due to the characteristics of the players, perhaps (Klopp would fit at) AC Milan. But, honestly, if you hire someone like him, you need an aggressive, vertical team,” Bonnani tells Tuttomercatoweb

“He would be a very welcome coach in Italy. But I see it as very tough.

“(Klopp is not right) for Juve, unless they get a younger team and you think of a football that is totally different from that of Allegri.”

Allegri, it must be said, has done a pretty impressive job at bridging one era to the next in Turin, a host of talented youngsters such as Samuel Iling-Junior, Fabio Miretti and Kenan Yildiz establishing themselves as first-team regulars of late.

Though this is still a Juventus side home to many players in their late-20s and early-30s, with Bonnini doubting whether Klopp’s famously ferocious, high-pressing football would go hand-in-hand with a largely ageing squad.

Who will be handed the keys to the Anfield machine?

Since Klopp sent shivers down the spine of English and European football 24 hours ago, a number of potential replacements have faced questions over the soon-to-be-vacant Anfield post. Feyenoord boss Arne Slot opted to keep his powder dry, however, while the aforementioned Alonso was quick to point out that he is loving life at an unbeaten, league-leading Bayer Leverkusen outfit.

One former Liverpool favourite has also thrown the name of Edin Terzic into the mix.
