Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool youngster Kaide Gordon is a ‘real talent’, as he told BBC Sport.
On Sunday, Liverpool survived a scare by beating League One side Shrewsbury Town 4-1 in the FA Cup.
17-year-old Gordon wrote his name into the history books because he became the club’s second youngster ever goalscorer.
With Shrewsbury providing a scare for the Premier League giants, Gordon levelled the scores just before the half-time break.
Gordon combined with his fellow teenage talent, Conor Bradley, to cooly slot home from inside the box.
Klopp shared his brief thoughts on the Liverpool young gun and shared what his ‘main strengths’ are.
“He’s a real talent,” said Klopp. “And his main strength is his finishing.”
What would have been most impressive about Gordon’s performance was the composure he showcased in front of goal.
It’s a great sign for the teenager and there’s no doubt that Liverpool fans will see more of him.
Perhaps Gordon’s next game will come against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final first leg?
It’s a much bigger step up, but Klopp has proven before that he is willing to give his youngsters the chance to shine against anyone.
